Venture to Stecoah Gap (#2)
Graham County,
NC

Sunday, April 29, 2007

On April 23, 2008 we took our first of three ventures to Stecoah Gap. Weather wise it was a beautiful day and the birding was good.

As is usual in the forested areas of WNC, we heard far more than we saw. However, we did get great looks at Blackburnian Warbler and several Ovenbirds. As is so often the case, several Cerulean Warblers where heard, but they stayed elusive throughout the whole day. The wildflowers were stunning. This is truly a wonderful place, especially in spring. Our list for the day was 44 species.
