An easy-moderate hike along the Davidson River, approximately 1-2 miles. The terrain should be fairly flat, but could be muddy. Hiking boots or other sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Join Jennie for a beginner’s wildflower hike at Lower Cat Gap in Pisgah National Forest. After a brief introduction to I-Naturalist (for those interested), we will take a walk along the Davidson River and discover some spring forest wildflowers and ferns. We’ll likely also enjoy lots of birds and birdsong along the way. This is a great spot for Dwarf Crested Iris, Foamflower, Showy Orchis Jack-in-the Pulpit and several species of violet and trillium.

If time and interest allow we could drive to some other areas for more wildflowers or do a little extra hiking.
