An easy walk through beautiful scenery, but this trip does require some moderate uphill walking. Bring good walking boots and binoculars

In the shadow of Grandfather Mountain, the Tanawha Trail is a delightful experience in any season. Designed with the protection of the natural environment in mind, the trail traverses a variety of plant communities from open meadows to deep forests of spruce and hemlock. We will hike a short section of the trail through a fragile mountain-heath ecosystem with dramatic rock outcrops and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. We will we enjoy the incredible vistas and wildflowers as well as a variety of birds on this gem of a trail near Linville, NC.
