Departure: We will carpool from the Folk Art Center Parking Lot on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Drivers will be given directions. Time: 7:30 AM Price: $55 Unfortunately, our picnic lunches are not currently included in our day trips (until further notice)
An easy walk through beautiful scenery, but this trip does require some moderate uphill walking. Bring good walking boots and binoculars
In the shadow of Grandfather Mountain, the Tanawha Trail is a delightful experience in any season. Designed with the protection of the natural environment in mind, the trail traverses a variety of plant communities from open meadows to deep forests of spruce and hemlock. We will hike a short section of the trail through a fragile mountain-heath ecosystem with dramatic rock outcrops and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. We will we enjoy the incredible vistas and wildflowers as well as a variety of birds on this gem of a trail near Linville, NC.
