Tree Swalllow by Simon Thompson

Cure your ‘Case of the Mondays’ with warbler watching at Jackson Park, one of the best fall migration hotspots in the region.

Jackson Park in Hendersonville is easily one of the best fall birding spots in all of WNC. Nearly every migrating songbird in the east has been recorded here, with as many as 23 warblers recorded in a single day! Late March is a little early for many newly-arriving spring birds, but we may see Tree Swallows feeding over the fields or hear the sweet song of a newly-arrived Blue-headed Vireo.

Many of our winter birds will still be with us, such as White-throated and White-crowned Sparrows. We could see a Fox Sparrow on its way north to its breeding grounds in the tundra or hear the lisping song of a Brown Creeper in the slowly-greening woodlands. Early spring can be a lovely time here in the North Carolina Mountains.

Meeting place & time: We will begin at the Jackson Park Administration building parking lot at 8:00 AM. The address for Jackson Park is: 801 Glover Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Depending on your navigation system, Glover St. may be referred to as ‘Jackson Park Rd.’

Price: $60
