On this first Monday of Spring, join us for the first in the Spring 2026 series of “Mondays With Mike” walks at Jackson Park, one of the best migration hotspots in the region.
Jackson Park in Hendersonville is easily one of the best migration hotspots in all of WNC. Nearly every migrating songbird in the east has been recorded here, with as many as 23 warblers recorded in a single day! Seldom seen on migration in this area, both Connecticut and Mourning Warblers, have been found in this park. More likely to be seen are Blackburnian, Cape May, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue, Northern Waterthrush -- the list goes on and on!
Small groups of mixed flocks of sparrows, blackbirds, and our first warblers will keep us alert as we sort through all the activity. And Jackson Park is one of the best locations to see (and hear!) Rusty Blackbirds, a seriously declining species. Join us for one of the most enjoyable birding experiences in Western North Carolina -- Jackson Park during spring migration.
Meeting place & time: We will begin at the gravel parking lot on the road to the BMX park and dog park at Jackson Park at 8:00 AM. This is off Fourth Ave E, with coordinates - 31.3184, -82.4497
Price: $60
