The northern portion of Uganda is composed of semi-arid savanna, deserts and brush country, interspersed with rolling mountains with dry montane forests. The protected areas are vast and contain a rich wealth of wildlife. The Karamoja region is home to the Karamojong people who live a semi-nomadic life and still practice their traditional lifestyles. We will drive north from Entebbe into increasingly drier habitats, culminating in the semi-arid Kidepo Valley National Park. Along the way we will spend time in Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, Mt Moroto, Matheniko and Bokora Game Reserves – the latter all part of the greater Kidepo Valley eco-system.
Wildlife will be abundant and the birdlife is typical of the arid north of the country. As well as many of the more common species, we also hope to see several scarce and localized birds along the way, such as Karamoja Apalis, Fox’s Weaver, Ring-necked Francolin and Scissor-tailed Kite.

Cost of Kidepo Valley Extension
Price of $3950 person includes:
All ground transportation, accommodation, food and drinking water, local guides and entrance fees and permits for Gorilla and Chimp treks. $350 single supplement.
Price includes:
All ground transportation in Uganda, all meals, taxes, entrance fees, trip information packet, bird list, and services of 2 guides (one local, one Ventures), snacks and drinking water
Not included:
Alcoholic beverages, gratuities, laundry, and items of a personal nature. Any meals/nights not included on the itinerary.

White-fronted Black-Chat, Abyssinian Sunbird, Fox’s Weaver, Cut-throat, Orange-winged Pytilia and many more.
